Ray-Ban Sunglasses: an iconic global brand in the eyewear industry
Ray-Ban has easily adapted to each generation, becoming one of the most iconic and well-known eyewear brands in the world.
Founded in 1937 by Bausch & Lomb, Ray-Ban began by focusing on making sunglasses for U.S. Army pilots, developing the first glass lenses that reduced glare.
But the trend and comfort of Ray-Ban sunglasses would soon expand its reach and, what began as an accessory focused on the world of aviation, eventually became a fashion must-have among citizens.
100 years of Ray-Bans
It all started in the 30's and Ray Ban has managed to keep up to this day because it has always been able to adapt to the style of each decade.
Advances in the world of aviation began to arrive and Ray-Ban sunglasses were chosen to protect pilots from the sun's rays.
After this success, in 1940, the brand extended its reach to the police force, as well as to all those who decided to use Ray-Ban sunglasses to enjoy their time outdoors.
This was helped by the arrival of innovative materials in the 1950s era, which caused Ray-Bans to have much more presence in everyday fashion.
By 1960 the brand was a trend and its eyewear became an indispensable accessory to stand out. In 1970 Rayban reached the sports scene and in 1980 it took over the big screen: every prominent figure had a model of Ray-Ban glasses.
In turn, it has been an icon in pop culture during the 90s and has been able to adapt to the new millennium by creating new models including eyeglasses (Optical model) and kid's glasses (Junior model).
In the 2010s Ray-Ban launches its first customizable model and begins to partner with the artists of the moment thanks to the launch of its creative center Studios.
Today we can say that Ray-Ban continues to shape the world through its iconic models and we have no doubt that this will be the case for a long time.

From the 30's until today, the most iconic Ray-Ban models have been passed from generation to generation without leaving anyone indifferent.
Let's start with its beginnings, with the Aviator Classic model, considered one of the best-known glasses in the world. As we already mentioned, they were designed for US aviators, but they have become a timeless model that combines attractiveness, sophistication and comfort.
Like the Aviator, the Wayfarer is not far behind in terms of recognition. Launched in 1952, the Wayfarer Classic became increasingly popular with artists, celebrities and musicians, as well as fashionistas.
Thus, the impeccable Wayfarer style has been maintained and updated, offering a wide variety of frames and lens treatments, but without losing its originality.
Knowing that the past always comes back, in 1986 Ray-Ban launches the Clubmaster model. Glasses that walk between the old school and the trends of the 80s. These were a great success among men and women of the time, thanks to figures like John Lennon and other legendary musicians who helped popularize the model.
The Round style, which arrived in 1989, has also been one of the favorite models of great artists. It is a totally retro eyewear, inspired by the counterculture of the 60's and stands out for its characteristic shape and the comfort of its frame.
